Cape Town landscaping company Inspired Landscaping creates beautiful, relaxed garden spaces that express your personality and style.

A beautiful garden is a vital part of your home that adds value to your property whilst providing harmonious and peaceful outdoor spaces for relaxing and entertaining.

Good gardens benefit from structure, design and careful planning. Our early involvement in the design process will result in effective and imaginative solutions that are both functional and beautiful.

The journey starts with a garden design consultation where we listen carefully to understand your vision, garden objectives and challenges.  Then we use this information, combined with our experience, to create a tailor-made solution.

We aim to create practical, natural-looking spaces that provide interest throughout the seasons that live in harmony with the architecture of your home. Leaf colour and texture are important components in our design process, along with balance, line, proportion, negative spaces, contrast and borrowed views.

Working in a variety of styles – from formal to relaxed – we use mostly Mediterranean and Indigenous plants that are cost-effective and durable.

A new garden… a revamp… or a garden project, we’d love to be involved.

“The love of gardening is a seed that once sown will never die.”

Cape Town landscaping

David’s vision and enthusiasm is inspiring. The comfort that comes with his nurturing approach is invaluable and the on-going support post completion of his work is what makes the difference between Inspired Landscaping and the rest.

Simon Sonn – Stonehurst Estate, Tokai

Both efficient and relaxed; ordered and creative; David and his team successfully combined expertise with our own needs and wants for an outcome that exceeded our expectations. A truly transformed space and an enjoyable experience overall.

Our landscaping services

Soft landscaping: Site clearing; tree felling and pruning; soil preparation and conditioning, fertilizing and composting; planting of new trees, plants and lawns.

Hard landscaping is done alongside the soft landscaping and includes retaining walls, gabions, paving, water features and ponds, decking, fences, irrigation, driveways, pools, tennis courts etc.

Hard landscaping may be managed in-house or sub-contracted, depending on the scope of the work. We have a trusted network of suppliers with whom we have worked on various and many projects.

Maintenance

The successful growth and development of your garden relies on regular and seasonal maintenance. We prefer to stay involved in our gardens to ensure they progress and mature as intended.

The Inspired process

  1. Garden Concept & Design Development – Time is spent in consultation with you, understanding your vision and identifying preferences and priorities with the view to, if appropriate, developing a broad, 2D (birds eye view) garden design plan.
  1. Detailed Garden Plan – Just as detail is important when building a house, so it is when planning a garden. Considerations include: Clearing, soil quality, drainage, watering, feeding, materials & finishes; Factors such as sun, wind, water-hardiness, plant combinations, owner plant-preferences, style and scale influence final decisions.
  1. Cost Estimation/Budget – Plant quantities are added, costed and availability checked. This step concludes with an updated budget for the garden implementation.
  1. Implementation – Implementation includes: sourcing and ordering of plants, tools and third-party supplies; supervision and management of the labour team and any third-party services; scheduling of plant delivery and installation dates.

Inspired Landscaping is based in Constantia, Cape Town and was established by David Walsh over 10 years ago.

Gardening is in David’s blood as his family have been involved in gardening for generations.

He takes much of his inspiration from landscapers like Patrick Watson (South Africa), Sam Cox (Australia) and Andrea Cochrane (USA). Whilst not a slave to a particular style, David’s preference is for relaxed planting and distinctive, natural-looking gardens.

David brings a wealth of experience and obvious passion for his trade. He has created many and various Cape Town Southern Suburbs gardens over the past 10 years. He is an avid reader of gardening books and magazines, and has worked closely with Cape Town botanical and horticultural associations, adding useful, local gardening knowledge.

If you are looking for a Cape Town landscaping company that delivers creative and practical solutions, these are the characteristics of each and every garden we create. We specialise in the design and implementation of up-market, domestic Cape Town gardens.

David seeks to understand his client’s gardening requirements and use his creative talents to exceed expectations and create an inspired garden.

Mike Winfield – Stonehurst Estate, Tokai

A great landscaping experience. David worked within a very tight budget doing a big garden and lawn in just four days. He was knowledgeable, professional and trustworthy – highly recommended!

Martin Zahradnik – Gardens

David took time to understand my colour, texture and mood preferences; considered the architectural aspects, made small changes, with dramatic effect. He transformed an awkward, unresolved space into a perfect garden area. My opinions mattered and I felt part of the process. I am very happy with the result.
